Review: The sequel to The Purge, wound up being something that I feel all of you will enjoy. Even if you don’t fully love the film, The Purge: Anarchy is a movie that at least everyone can get into. The film takes everything that I saw wrong in the original movie and just completely delivers in every way that it possibly can. The Purge: Anarchy got a 6.5/10 on IMDb, which is actually pretty decent for that site, but I believe it deserves to be much higher.
Lets start off with the story, which was very intriguing by the way. The Purge: Anarchy focuses on a group of 5 people who are stuck out on the streets during purge night and must fight in order to survive the night. This is where The Purge: Anarchy differs from the original film, I was absolutely thrilled to see this movie take place in the streets, like they literally go all over the city and I loved the fact that they made this movie that way. It just makes the viewers feel like they’re in the movie, it’s literally awesome. The Purge: Anarchy also gives us a better look at the government and the freedom fighters that are against the purge. Overall the story in The Purge: Anarchy is an excellent one. How was the acting? The acting in The Purge: Anarchy was good. There wasn’t a performance by anyone that will really capture you, but the whole cast does do a good job in the movie and keeps things enjoyable for us viewers, especially Frank Grillo and Carmen Ejogo.
The Purge: Anarchy can provide you with some scares, but I feel like this movie focuses more on the thrills, which is fine. You shouldn’t really expect this movie to frighten you, just appreciate all the excitement this movie brings and enjoy the ride. There were plenty of kills and some pretty crazy kill scenes. The thrills and intense scenes did an excellent job with keeping my eyes glued on the television. Will you be able to survive the night?Overall I absolutely loved The Purge: Anarchy and thought it was highly entertaining. The story was probably the best thing about this film and where it mostly differed from the original. This movie focuses more on the actual purge as a whole and it takes place in the city streets. It was an intriguing approach and really got me into the movie, felt like I was there with the characters. The acting was good, nothing too special, but something the viewers can enjoy. The Purge: Anarchy won’t terrify you, but it can make you jump. The thrills and kills were intense and did an excellent job with keeping my eyes on the television. If you haven’t seen this movie I highly recommend you go watch it. You won’t regret it, this one is a must watch!
