This is just a little unboxing video that I did for the Friday the 13th complete collection box set. Friday the 13th is probably one of the best horror franchises to ever be created and I can watch all the films over and over again. Extremely excited to have this beautiful box set to add to my collection.
Plot: Still haunted by his gruesome past, Tommy Jarvis – the boy who killed Jason Voorhees – wonders if somehow he is connected to brutal slayings occurring in and around the secluded halfway house where he now lives.
Review: Friday the 13th: A New Beginning is a slasher film that’s a part of the hit Friday the 13th franchise. In my opinion, this is when the franchise started to decline, but I do have to say that this film was enjoyable. Friday the 13th: A New Beginning may not be the best film, but it’s nowhere near the worst. Give it a try! Just to let all of you know, the entire Friday the 13th franchise is now on Netflix!
The story to Friday the 13th: A New Beginning was pretty enjoyable. It mainly focuses on Tommy Jarvis (who is now grown up), who gets sent to a crazy persons house and continues to have nightmares of what happened when he was younger. When killings start to happen he automatically thinks Jason is the culprit and boy was he right. Now although the film did focus on Tommy I do believe that the directors tried to make this movie like the previous film where the young boy is the main character (Reggie), which I found enjoyable. I really did love seeing Tommy’s fear throughout the movie and I’m glad they put that in this story, good job by the directors! I also guarantee that you will never guess the ending as well, it was completely unexpected and shocked me the first time I watched it!How was the acting? The acting in Friday the 13th: A New Beginning wasn’t that great to be completely honest. John Shepherd, Melanie Kinnaman, and Shavar Ross gave decent performances, but nothing great. The supporting cast was just terrible, so don’t expect anything big from the actors in this movie.
Friday the 13th: A New Beginning provides the viewer with some scares. Just like all the other films, this movie won’t make you terrified, it just provides you with a few scenes that can possibly make you jump. The blood was a little low in this movie, but there were plenty of gruesome scenes to make up for that. Although most of the kills weren’t actually shown, the viewer still knew what was happening and it gave us enough thrills to enjoy Friday the 13th: A New Beginning. In my opinion, they could’ve done a little better in this category. Overall Friday the 13th: A New Beginning is a decent film that you can enjoy. The story was entertaining and did keep the me into the movie. As for the acting, I hated nearly everyones performance and they kind of bored me. Friday the 13th: A New Beginning is not a terrifying movie, so don’t expect anymore then a few scenes that can make you jump. There were some thrills that made this movie enjoyable, but I still felt like they could’ve done better in that category. If you haven’t seen Friday the 13th: A New Beginning give it a try, it’s not the best movie you will ever see, but you may be able to enjoy it. Make sure you check out all the Friday the 13th movies on Netflix!
One of my followers just made this Amazing Horrorville hooded sweater. I absolutely loved it and just purchased one, thank you for the amazing sweater and for the support. You guys can buy one at the link below:
Plot: After being mortally wounded and taken to the morgue, murderer Jason Voorhees spontaneously revives and embarks on a killing spree as he makes his way back to his home at Camp Crystal Lake.
Review: This is probably one of the best Friday the 13th movie in the franchise. The franchise definitely hit its peak during this film, because all the movies after this one weren’t that great. This movie was highly enjoyable and will absolutely keep you entertained!
The story to this Friday the 13th movie was great. It mainly focuses on Jason stalking a group of teenage vacationers and a family that live by Crystal Lake. I liked the idea of having Jason stalk two different sets of people, it seemed like we had two different stories to watch in this film and it was interesting. It was great seeing the young Tommy outwit and defeat Jason and he was an interesting part to this story. The story provides us with some great thrills. How was the acting? The acting was great, Corey Feldman is an amazing actor and delivers in every movie he plays in. Crispin Glover and Kimberly Beck also had great performances, it was a all around great acting performance from the cast.
Just like any other Friday the 13th movie there are great scares. The movies never dissapointed when it came to scares, but this movie also delivered when it came to the kills. There were plenty of kills and the kill scenes were crazy. Unlike some of the other films, this movie had gore scenes, that could really creep you out. Jason Vorhees is seriously bad ass!Overall I loved this movie and thought it was a great addition to the franchise. The story and acting were great, Corey Feldman is a fantastic actor and really delivers in this movie. Just like any other Friday the 13th movie there are great scares. The movies never dissapointed when it came to scares, but this movie also delivered when it came to the kills. There were plenty of crazy/gory kill scenes. I guarantee that you will be creeped out! If you haven’t seen this movie yet I highly recommend it. You won’t regret it, this is a must watch!

So many remakes have been made, it is going to be tough to pick a top 5. Throughout the years there have been terrible remakes and great ones, today we will be looking at our top 5 favorite horror movie remakes of all time. This is a versus post folks, Darren, Chris, and I are giving our top 5 lists on this post. So lets get to the lists!
My Top 5
5. Fright Night (2011) remake of Fright Night (1985)
This remake absolutely delivered and did a great job with keeping viewers entertained. The story line is essentially the same as the original, but in this film we find out more about the relationship Charlie has with his friends, mom, and girlfriend. Although, it may not be better than the original, it can still scare you and keep you highly entertained.
4. The Crazies (2010) remake of The Crazies (1973)
Imagine being in a town where a virus causes people to lose their minds and eventually leading them to attack you. Yeah, I would be terrified too, but that’s not the survivors only problem, they now have to deal with the military who is officially ordered to shoot anyone on sight, survivor or infected. I guarantee that you will be entertained.
3. The Hills Have Eyes (2006) remake of The Hills Have Eyes (1977)
The original Hills Have Eyes can scare you, but the remake is just off the charts. Brings us more scares, blood, and creepiness, than we ever would have seen in the original. This is a must watch!
2. Friday the 13th (2009) remake of Friday the 13th (1980)
Now I already know what some of you might be thinking. Is this actually a remake? Well whenever I look it up or hear people talking about it, they do consider it a remake. It really isn’t though, it’s more of a remake of the first 3 films combined, and there is nothing wrong with that, I actually liked that idea. They didn’t show us more than we need to know. The reason why I enjoyed this remake so much because for the first time ever, we actually see a director try to show us how Jason always knows where people are and how he gets there so fast. I thought it was a great idea and I loved it. The remake was better then the original in my opinion.
1. The Thing (1981) remake of The Things From Another World (1951)
There really isn’t much too say here. If you read my review of the film, you know how much I enjoyed it. It’s probably one of the greatest films I have ever watched, so of course it would have to be number one on my list. If you haven’t seen this movie yet you’re missing out.
5. Mother’s Day (2010) remake of Mother’s Day (1980)
Troma have made some of the worst cheap horror films of all time and recently they have been getting remade with a bigger budget. This time the story is similar but cuts out some of the violence used before and adds some genuine tension.
This is one horror film that seemed to get over looked in 2010 but in the end it is a bit of a horror gem.
4. Halloween (2007) remake of Halloween (1978)
This choice is like marmite you either love it or hate it. For me this is one of those examples of good use of a remake where it takes very small elements from the first and instead of copying it re-creates the type of horror we see.
This doesn’t mean I dislike the original both films I think are good in their own way. This is one example of how a classic can be remade and still be a good film.
3. Dawn Of The Dead (2004) Remake of Dawn Of The Dead (1978)
Another film here that has had people talking since it came out. The original is one of the best horror films ever made. The remake offers a modern take on a similar story of a group of survivors trying to live out a normal existence in a shopping mall during a zombie apocalypse.
Using the new fast moving zombies and a large group of disposable survivors we have a lot more blood and gore as well as one of the funniest chainsaw death in recent film.
2. The Crazies (2010) Remake of The Crazies (1973)
Here is another film that was made with little money that created an atmospheric viral outbreak that followed a couple of survivors hiding from a constant threat. The remake ups the stakes using improved military hunting for any survivors as well as using the zombie like reaction to an infection.
1. The Thing (1981) Remake of The Things From Another World (1951)
This had to be the choice everyone was expecting to see, it is considered one of the best films ever made let alone remakes. I don’t know what else I can say that hasn’t already been said about this film other than this is my favorite remake so make sure it is on you watched list.
Put a 1960’s Ford Mustang (in good condition) next to a 2014 model Mustang, and the choice is clear to me…I’ll take the 60’s model. Now most can see from my picture that I drive a 2013 model, but shut up, I needed something I would actually drive daily. Anyways, my point is that when it comes to cars, I’m a fan of the classics, but when it comes to movies, I have mixed views. Here are my top 5 Horror movie remakes, with an emphasis on which version I prefer.
5.Halloween (2007) remake of Halloween (1978)
Halloween is the only franchise that I actually have no preference on old versus new. The 2007 version was just as entertaining to me as the original 1978 film, and those that followed. Michael Myers is one disturbed guy who knows how to kill. This movie franchise has left it’s mark on the world, and I’m sure we will be seeing plenty of Michael Myers masks on trick-or-treaters for years to come.
4. The Amityville Horror (2005) remake of The Amityville Horror (1979)
This was another close one for me, because I enjoyed the remake very much. Ryan Reynolds can pull off just about any role, and he certainly proved it in the movie. The 1979 original however, has to be considered my favorite, for it’s tense feel and general creepiness. You know how sometimes older things are more scary? Like a 1950’s hearse versus a modern day one? Well, with The Amityville Horror, the same rings true.
3. Psycho (1998) remake of Psycho (1960)
Norman Bates has been around since the 1960’s! It’s hard to believe that this character is still kept alive today through the newest television show, Bates Motel. In regards to the movies though, the downside to the originals is that they are black and white. I personally do not care for black and white movies. It’s just too out-dated in my opinion. However, the original 3 Psycho films are still remarkably eerie. The 1998 remake, features Vince Vaughn (of all people) as Norman Bates. To my shock and awe, I found his performance to be pretty good. The original Norman Bates was better, but the modern setting in the remake captured my attention better. At the end of the day though, it’s gotta be the original!
2. Fright Night (2011) remake of Fright Night (1985)
If you recently read my review of the Fright Night (2011) review, then you may recall that I hadn’t seen the 1985 version. Just for this post, I decided to watch it, and boy oh boy was I glad I did! In the original, the deaths of characters were long, drawn out, and over dramatic. It was almost annoying at times honestly. But, other than that, I liked the characters better, the setting better, and even the cheesy costumes/makeup better. 2011’s version of this film was excellent in my eyes, but little did I know, that the 80’s version kicked it’s ass.
1. A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010) remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street(1984)
Freddy Krueger is one of my favorite (if not my favorite) horror movie character of all time. I love the background of Freddy, and the extremely creative plot that has someone killing teens in their dreams. We are always told by our parents when we are younger that dreams can’t hurt us…”It’s ok darling, it was only a dream.” This is what makes A Nightmare on Elm Street so damn good! It takes what we have been convinced isn’t possible, and makes it real! In comparing the 1984 version to the 2010 remake, it’s actually quite a landslide. The original movie dominates the remake in almost every way. I highly enjoy watching the 2010 version, and have seen it plenty of times. But you just can’t beat the real Freddy Krueger, that can be found in the 80’s and early 90’s films.
