Plot : After being committed for 17 years, Michael Myers, now a grown man and still very dangerous, escapes from the mental institution (where he was committed as a 10 year old) and he immediately returns to Haddonfield, where he wants to find his baby sister, Laurie. Anyone who crosses his path is in mortal danger.
Review : The remake to the classic film Halloween (1978) wound up being a pretty solid sequel. This movie shows us about around an hour of the younger Michael Myers and what led to him being one of the greatest horror icons till this day. This is a enjoyable film too watch.
The story was good, I honestly liked seeing younger Michael in the movie, showed us why he turned into the killer that we all know and love. I know that the Nightmare on Elm St remake tried to do the same thing, but in my opinion it failed. For some reason I felt like it worked for this movie, maybe it’s because we even saw young Michael kill a few people, I don’t know but it just worked. After a hr the film jumps to older Michael and that winds up being close to the original, it had it’s unique scenes, but still followed the originals story, which was fine, it is a remake folks. How was the acting? The acting was decent, it was not even close if you try comparing it to the original. The only person I think did a great job was Malcolm McDowell, but he is no Donald Pleasance . Other then him the other cast members were decent at best.
The movie is honestly terrifying, probably the scariest Myers movie I have ever seen. Michael was just a complete monster in the movie, they made him so big, it was scary. The ripped mask also fit the film well. The whole movie is just creepy and is filled with numerous amounts of kills and all the kill scenes were very intense and gory, there was lots of blood. It was great, honestly, this movie absolutely delivered when it came to the kills. Overall I loved the movie, it was enjoyable and is in my top 10 for horror remakes. The story is original and shows us the younger side of Michael we never seen before and how he became a killer. The acting was decent at best, the only person I enjoyed in the film was Malcolm McDowell, but these actors can’t compete with the actors from the original. The film provided scares and the kill scenes were absolutely insane, so much gore and blood in this film. The only thing that was annoying was that they curse like every 5 seconds in this film, I’m not against cursing, everyone curses, but they took it to another level. If you haven’t seen this movie yet I recommend you watch it. You won’t regret it, this is a must watch!
