Plot : Serial killer Charles Lee Ray is back! This time his girlfriend Tiffany has revived him, once again in the form of the popular “Chucky” doll. Shortly after the “happy” couple’s reunion, Chucky kills her and brings her back in the form of a girl’s bridal doll. The two then embark on a killing spree en route to dig up Ray’s corpse, which was buried with a Satanic voodoo charm capable of bringing back the dead.
Review : The movie was not what I expected it to be, the franchise kind of went downhill after this movie was produced, but did start to improve again with the next films. I guess my biggest problem with the film is that the movie drifted away from the original Chucky films. It was kind of a “hey lets just make a random slasher film and put Chucky in it.” Which I thought was dumb, but the movie is still watchable.
The story was kind of retarded, but decent, for those of you that have seen the original Chucky movies know how different this film is from them. We don’t see Chucky trying too possess himself into some poor unlucky person, well we do, but not until the end, and he originally had no intentions on doing so. I am also mad at the fact that we never saw the voodoo charm before in any of the other films, but that’s just me.As for the acting? I liked Katherine Heigl and Brad Dourif as “Chucky,” but Jennifer Tilly really got on my nerves. Her voice is absolutely annoying, it will probably make some people want to throw their television out the window. I guess they put her in to show off her body, because whenever she was on screen her body was all over the place. Some of you may like that, but there’s more to a movie and acting than that and she was just terrible. The overall acting performance was decent.
When it came to the kills and scares, this was a basic Chucky movie. It delivered in both of those areas and really had some great kill scenes. The dark humor was great, although you may sometimes feel like they’re pushing it a little to much. The movie was also filled with blood, and gave us tons of gore and creepy scenes to help make up for the lack of this movie in the other categories. “A true classic never dies” Chucky says after stabbing this man to death, referring to the knife. Although, it can kind of go toward the movie as a whole, no matter how bad this movie may be, people want to watch it, because Chucky is a classic and he will never die!Overall this movie was somewhat decent, it was the worst film in the franchise, but is watchable. The story and acting weren’t that great, they were decent at best. Jennifer Tilly’s voice can really start to get to you. The best part of the movie had to be the kills and the dark humor give the movie some justice. If you haven’t seen this movie I wouldn’t recommend you to watch it, but it’s not terrible. It’s a movie that you can get some enjoyment out of, I personally just hated the story and Tilly’s performance. So give it a try, you may like it.
