Plot : A masked killer begins murdering teenagers in a small town, and as the body count rises, one girl and her friends contemplate the “rules” of horror films as they find themselves living in a real-life one. She starts to realize that she will never be able to hide from her past and that the killer is always somehow linked too her. What’s your favorite scary movie?
Review : That’s right folks I’m reviewing the entire Scream franchise and giving it an overall rate. These films were legendary, in a sense that they basically helped save the slasher genre. When Scream was made the slasher genre was in a drought, everyone was making movies, but failed to make an enjoyable slasher film. Wes Craven brought us in my opinion, a masterpiece that not only saved the slasher genre, but was it’s own original movie that many people grew too love.
The story was great in all of the four films, even though the plot was basically the same. We see the characters in different settings and different time periods that give each film its own originality. The plot of every movie was basically a person who dresses up as ghost face tries to kill Sidney, and in each of the films the killers all have some kind of link to Sid. It was honestly fantastic and provided so much suspense for the viewers, I know I tried really hard in each film trying too figure out who the killer was and that’s what makes a slasher story great. As for the acting, the cast was probably one of the best things, if not the best about this movie. So many great actors such as Neve Campbell, Jamie Kennedy, David Arquette, Courtney Cox, Skeet Ulrich, Matthew Lillard, Jerry O’ Connel, Timothy Olyphant, Patrick Dempsey, Scott Foley, Emma Roberts, and Hayden Panettiere. Each film had an outsanding cast that did a great job with allowing the viewer to be able to connect with their character and made things highly enjoyable for us. Thank you all, don’t know what this franchise would have been like without you!!
The movies weren’t that scary, but were still creepy enough to make you jump. The movies mainly focused on suspense, which in some cases can make you fear for the characters lives and may even scare you as well. So many kills in this franchise, oh so many. Maybe not as many as Friday the 13th and Halloween, but a good enough amount, and all of the kill scenes were precise, sharp, and highly entertaining. There was a decent amount of blood, could have been more in the films, but like I said before the franchise didn’t need all of that, the suspense did a great job at making these movies so great. Overall this franchise absolutely rocks!! If you’ve watched My Top 5 Horror Franchises YouTube video you know that Scream is my #1 choice. I just have a great amount of love for these movies that will never go away, I still watch every movie when I have the time and I still don’t get bored. The story and acting were absolutely amazing, and it was great seeing how much the characters developed throughout the movies, truly amazing. You really won’t find a better overall cast, than the cast that Scream had. In my opinion no franchise can ever match that overall talent. There were some great kill scenes in the movie and enough scares to keep you entertained. The movie didn’t need that much blood because the suspense made a huge impact on the movie and was able to get the viewers into the films. I also heard that they are making a 5th film and a television series, so I really cant wait for those to come out. All of these movies are fantastic and would recommend everyone to watch them, if they haven’t already. You wont regret it! These films are a must watch, each and every single one of them is highly enjoyable and will keep the viewer on the edge of their seat!
I give this franchise a 9/10
