  1. I’m so glad you liked it! There are so many things to love about this movie. The creature design was fantastic, and the fact that we will probably never see that much dedication and work going into building the prosthesis again since everything is cgi now. It’s like Tron all over again: we will never see a new movie like it – it will be far too expensive to make. The fact that the scientists ACTUALLY ACTED LIKE SCIENTISTS (I’m looking at you, Prometheus) is so rare in films, and in this one they have to go through and basically experiment on one another to find out who the Thing is.
One thing they could do with a sequel is have it set in the future where the ice caps melt and the Thing is set into the ocean. 27000 Hours Later? People would need an awful lot of fire to defend themselves. But then, it wouldn’t be a horror film exactly, more just straight apocalypse.
I need to see other John Carpenter films though. Any recommendations?

    • I loved it, so many great things about this movie. I haven’t seen that many John Carpenter movies, except for Halloween and this one. I heard that Vampires was pretty good, I have to give that one a watch.

  2. The Thing is masterful in its simple cast, setting, suspense and use of frightening practical effects. Marigold, Escape from NY, Big Trouble in Little China, The Fog, They Live, and In the Mouth of Madness were fun. Check ’em out.
