Plot : A lethal virus spreads throughout Scotland, infecting millions and killing hundreds of thousands. To contain the threat, acting authorities brutally quarantine the country as it succumbs to fear and chaos. The quarantine is successful. Three decades later, the Reaper virus violently resurfaces in London. An elite group of specialists, including Eden Sinclair, is urgently dispatched into Scotland to retrieve a cure by any means necessary. Shut off from the rest of the world, the unit must battle through a landscape that has become a waking nightmare.
Review : Doomsday wasn’t a great movie but it wasn’t that bad either. Its a pretty solid film that can keep you entertained and probably creeped out the whole time. The acting in the film wasn’t the greatest but it did have the beautiful and talented Rhona Mitra as the lead who I believe delivered a solid performance.
The story and plot were pretty good, the whole movie takes place in the future and has a special team try to go into a highly infected area to try to find a cure for these monster like people. The film kind of has a cult vibe going on, kind of reminds me of the film Ghosts of Mars, which was another decent film. I liked the whole story though, I don’t know some people may disagree, but it was appealing too me.
Now it’s time to get to the good part about the movie. There were many kills in this film and each kill had a crazy and gory kill scene. The whole movie was filled with blood. If you’re a horror fan or into that stuff then you should think that’s awesome! There was just so many scenes that would just creep you out. The film really doesn’t scare you that much, but it does a good job with keeping the audience entertained. The makeup didn’t really look that hard to put on, but the infected people still looked scary as shit.
Overall I really enjoyed the film, I didn’t love it but it was very enjoyable. The acting and story line were pretty decent, but for me it was the kills and blood that really drew me in. This was a high action packed thriller film that will give you lots of blood and gore. Who wouldn’t love that? I do wish there would have been more scare scenes, but even without them the film can still creep you out. Sometimes cult-like movies suck but for this film it happened to work pretty well. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, I recommend you to watch it. It may not be the best film you ever see, but it’s enjoyable and will keep you entertained.
I give this movie a 7.5/10
