Plot: The third Nightmare on Elm Street continues with the sole survivor of the first movie, Nancy Thompson. Nancy has grown up and became a psychiatrist specializing in dream therapy. She accepts a position as a research scientist at a psychiatric institution, which is where she meets/works with children that all share nightmares of Freddy. Nancy helps the kids realize their special abilities in the nightmare world, which is when she discovers that one of the kids has a special ability that can help destroy Freddy once and for all. Will the nightmares finally be over?
Review : After the disastrous second film the franchise came back and delivered a very solid third film to their collection. I loved the idea of bringing Nancy back and she did a great job with the new role she was given, it was nice seeing her as more of a parental figure. The story and plot where great, it showed flashes of the original film. I do have to say that the best thing about the plot is that they actually allowed the characters to eventually have some control over their dream and nightmares. It makes the movie more realistic, we should at least have some control over our dreams. The acting was a great all around performance, everybody did a great job with their roles. I was really impressed with the kills in this film. The kill count was pretty high and the kill scenes were absolutely great in my opinion. They really stepped it up in this film with the kills, they were very well done and had extreme amounts of blood in it. Everything was gruesome and you have to love that in a horror film. Overall this was a great movie and honestly revived this franchise. The story and acting was great which lead to a good ending. There were a lot of kills that were bloody and pretty gruesome which was great in my opinion. This movie will get you really into the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. If you haven’t seen this film yet I completely recommend that you go watch it. You wont regret it!
I give this movie a 9/10
