This is without a doubt my favorite werewolf movie of all time. The film is also one of the few werewolf classics that still get talked about till this day. Jane Coslaw who is the older sister of the paraplegic Marty in the film is the narrator in this movie. Throughout her narration we hear and see how her relationship grows with her brother. This film opens up with the werewolf killing a railroad worker but when people find his body his death gets ruled a suicide due to the fact that this guy is a drunk. The people just think that he fell on the track and got decapitated by a train. There were a lot of kills in this movie and the scenes were all really good. The majority of the first half of the film is mainly just about the werewolf killing people. Before we even get to the halfway mark the werewolf has already killed like four people and once Marty’s friend Brady dies the town decides to send out a search party, so that they can find and kill this animal that is scaring the town like this. While the search party is about to leave the Reverend Lester Lowe tries to stop them from going so that there will be no more deaths. The group doesn’t listen and goes to hunt for the killer and while they are looking for the animal several of the people in the group are killed. That scene when they were walking through the foggy forest would scare you by itself, it’s just a creepy setting. I just loved watching the werewolf pick them off one by one it was absolutely insane and would scare the shit out of you. After the people get attacked Reverend Lowe has a dream that all the people in the church including the dead people in the caskets turn into werewolf’s and attack him but he awakens and asks god to “please let in end.” You kind of feel bad for him being that he is the reverend of a town that has been having so many deaths, he is probably scared to death. Since the murders are still piling up the town sets a curfew and cancels the annual firework show that the town always has. So the Coslaw’s decide to throw a party of their own and invite Marty’s Uncle Red. Uncle Red builds a wheelchair/motorcycle for Marty and names it the “Silver Bullet.” So Marty sneaks out at night and takes the “Silver Bullet” that his uncle built him and goes to a bridge to light the fireworks that his uncle also gave him. While he is lighting the fireworks the werewolf goes to attack him and Marty only gets away because he sets off a firework into the werewolf’s eye. He eventually gets his sister to help him look for someone that is missing or has a messed up left eye. So the second part of the movie is basically about them trying to find out who the werewolf is and trying to convince people and their uncle that it is the person who they found that has the messed up eye. This all leads to a great ending and I absolutely loved it. Overall I really loved this movie it brings fear and a great amount of suspense and puts it into one film which makes this movie so good. The story line was touching and really made this movie enjoyable. There was a lot of kills in this movie and the kill scenes were pretty good but like i said it was probably the suspense that made this movie so good. Although the film was actually very scary as well. I would have to say that the best thing about this film would probably have to be the acting. I have always been a big fan of Corey Haim he was one of my favorite actors back then and I think he just did a marvelous job with the lead role. The other actors were also very good as well and provided a great supporting cast. I really have no complaints about this amazing classic. This is a movie that you need to watch. So if you haven’t seen this movie yet I recommend that you go watch it, you won’t regret it!
I also just want to give a shout out and say RIP to Corey Haim he was a amazing actor and he has been missed!
I give this movie a 9.5/10
