I give this movie a 9/10
So I was trying to figure out what movie to watch and I saw that this was on so I decided to watch it over again so I can give a review about it and know what I am talking about. Now the reason why I had to watch this over again was because I don’t completely remember it due to the fact that I hated the movie and only watched it once before. The opening scene of the movie starts out with Robert Englund driving a bus full of kids until eventually only three kids are on it and then he turns into Freddy and drives the bus into a open field and the ground starts falling apart and the bus is held up above what it looked like to be hell by one little area of the ground that did not collapse, and just as Freddy goes to kill the kids the boy Jesse wakes up. After seeing that scene I thought that this was going to be a solid movie but boy was I wrong, it all started to go downhill from that. We find out that Jesse moved into Nancy’s old house on elm street which can be why he is having these nightmares, but what doesn’t make sense is that we find out that Freddy is not trying to kill Jesse, but he is just trying to use Jesse as an assassin. Jesse continues to tell Freddy no for a little while but towards the middle of the film Jesse goes out to a bar and his coach sees him there so he stops Jesse from drinking and brings him back to the gym and forces him to run laps. When the coach sees that Jesse has had enough he tells him to hit the showers and this is when it gets weird, Freddy starts throwing all the balls in the coaches office at him and eventually ties him up and brings him in the showers to Jesse, and at that point smoke fills the showers and Freddy comes out and kills the coach. The weird thing was that when the smoke went down again Jesse had Freddy’s glove on his hand so basically Jesse killed the coach and that is the first time we see Freddy possess Jesse. After that we soon see Freddy come out of Jesse’s body while he is sleeping and kill his friend but then it cuts back to Jesse and you see him covered in the blood and wearing Freddy’s glove, and those are really the only two kills we see. Jesse was traumatized after that and runs to his girlfriends and she tries to calm him down but he has no control of anything anymore like Jesse says in the movie Freddy owns him, and then all of a sudden Jesse turns into Freddy and traps all the people at the party so they can’t leave and he just starts trying to kill as much people as he can. When he is done at the party Freddy leaves and Jesse’s girlfriend Lisa follows him to a factory and tries to get Jesse to fight him and to kick him out of his body because Jesse is stronger then he is and it actually works, we see flames burn Freddy and then Jesse comes out of Freddy’s burnt body and overcoming the bad guy. Overall I hated this movie it was completely irrelevant to the character that Freddy is supposed to be, in this film there really wasn’t a motive he was just killing anyone he wanted to and I didn’t understand that possessing shit like that killed the movie. The kill count was low and the kill scenes weren’t good at all. I don’t recommend this movie but if you are going to watch the whole franchise then you should watch it, it will make you appreciate the other films.
I give this movie a 4/10
This is without a doubt my favorite vampire movie of all time. This film is one of the few vampire classics that still get talked about till this day. It starts out with a family moving to a small town in California. Right when the movie starts you see that it is a weird looking town but it starts getting weirder when strange deaths start to occur. The two brothers Michael and Sam go out to explore the boardwalk and try to meet friends which is where Michael sees a girl that he basically falls for and Sam meets these two brothers that own a comic book store on the boardwalk that claim to be vampire hunters. Now we can say that the two comic book brothers warned Sam that vampires live in this town because they kept giving him vampire comics and tell him if you see something weird call us. Well eventually that is exactly what Sam has to do, because his brother Michael gets involved with a biker gang in order to impress the girl that he met at the boardwalk and he drinks the blood of the head vampire, which turns him. So the whole movie is about Michael trying to fight the urge too feed because until he tastes blood he does not become a full vampire he just remains a half vampire. While Michael is dealing with his struggles we see Sam and his new vampire hunting friends try to find out who the head vampire is. This all leads up to a great ending and a whole bunch of great action scenes. We see Michael, Sam, and their new friends fight against the vampires to try to get Michael to become human again because legend says that if you kill the head vampire you turn human again, but only if you’re still a half vampire. Overall I really loved this film it had some great actors in it and honestly made me laugh my ass of with all the great comedy it had as well. I honestly also loved the soundtracks that they had in this film they were really catchy and fit well with this movie. The story line was also amazing, I have no complaints about this amazing classic that got me in to vampire films. You will fall in love with this movie right when you watch it, so if you haven’t seen it yet i recommend you go watch it right now! Trust me you won’t regret it!
I give this movie a 10/10
I also just want to say RIP to Corey Haim he was one of my favorite actors and it was a shame to see him pass away the way he did. He may be gone but never will be forgotten.
In this podcast I discuss my favorite scenes from The Walking Dead season 4 finale. I also tell you how I think season 5 might end up because of the finale. I hope you enjoy and thank you for listening!
Halloween (1978)- The original Halloween film that was directed by John Carpenter was legendary. The story line and everything was perfect from beginning to end. The movie opens up with Michael Myers killing his sister and being sent away which is all we really need to know, we don’t need a motive or anything I love the mystery behind it. Even as we get further along into the movie after Michael escapes from the psychiatric prison he doesn’t start killing right away he just stalks his victims for the majority of the film and during that we slowly learn why he would go back to Haddonfield and we eventually find out that Lorie(Jamie Lee Curtis) is Michael Myers sister. So Overall the story was great. Now to get to the actors, Jamie Lee Curtis did an amazing job with her first major lead role as Lorie. Donald Pleasence also did a great job at playing Dr. Loomis who was the psychiatrist of Michael Myers, he also even brought a little comedy to the film but very little. All around Halloween had a pretty good cast. Now to get to the part that makes the slasher films which is the killing scenes. There really isn’t that many kills in the movie but the film did have some solid killing scenes. Myers was very crafty when it came to killing, he stalked his victims for awhile and when he felt it was the right time he would move in for the quick and silent kill. I loved the killing scenes in this film. I feel like they could have showed more, but there was just something about the way Myers killed his victims and how he would jump out and surprise them just made it more exciting. Overall I loved the film and would give it a 9/10.
Halloween (2007)- The Halloween remake that was directed by Rob Zombie was actually worth watching, I liked the film but I didn’t love it. The story line was basically the same as the original but Rob Zombie added more of Michael Myers childhood in the beginning. Instead of jumping to Myers killing his sister the movie opens up with you seeing how screwed up Michael Myers family was and shows him killing rats. We also see how he is kind of bullied at school and he basically doesn’t have the best life. After the scene when Michael gets in trouble and the school looks through the bag and finds pictures of all the animals that Michael has killed, this is when we first see Dr. Loomis. After that we see Myers first killing and then eventually it gets to basically the same story line as the original. Overall the story was pretty good, I thought that they added a little too much information about Myers but it turned out being a solid story. Now to get to the actors, Malcolm McDowell did a very good job as the character Dr. Loomis. The rest of the actors on the other hand I thought were not so good, I just think they didn’t do a good job. Now to get to the killing scenes of this film. The remake of Halloween had a lot of kills and they were pretty brutal and most of the scenes were pretty intense and scary. I loved the killing scenes and Rob Zombie did a great job with them. Myers was also bigger and scarier in general. Overall this was a solid remake to an amazing classic. I would give it a 7.5/10
So in my opinion the original was better then the remake. But the remake was still good and I think you should watch both films.
