A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)- The original Nightmare on Elm Street was absolutely amazing. The character of Freddy was played by Robert Englund and he did a marvelous job. In this film the movie mainly focused about Nancy trying to keep her and her friends alive. We learn about what happened to Freddy Krueger but they don’t go further into detail about it. They figured as long as we knew his motive the movie didn’t need to go further into detail. Which I agree with because it made him more mysterious and in my opinion more scary. In the original movie they made Freddy’s character funny and playful because he would always mess around with his victims before murdering them, which kept the entertainment going. The last thing I liked about this movie was how they portrayed Freddy’s face, they made him look extremely terrifying.
A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)- The remake of Nightmare on Elm street was not good but it also was not terrible. The only thing that I really like about this movie was how they went further in-depth about what happened to Freddy. They didn’t just tell you what happened they actually show you, which would make you understand what happened to him more clearly. Unfortunately, that completely made this movie different from the original because this remake focused on Freddy Krueger and trying to make you realize why he is killing all these children. This and the fact that his face looked like realistic burns kind of took your fear of Freddy away. This Freddy character did not even come close to how scary the original Freddy was. Also I believe that the acting in this movie was very poor, the characters really didn’t show the emotion that I was looking for. When the teenagers enter the dream world Freddy just kept trying to lead them to an elementary school to make them remember everything that happened, unlike the original where Freddy just played with them a little then killed them.
So in my opinion the original was way better then the remake.
